A sweet decor element for a birthday, bridal or baby shower, Sweet 16, or any occasion that calls for coquette decor, this bow garland is fun to make. We made it for a Rose Gold themed party, but you can use our downloadable bow garland template and different paper to make it fit any party’s palette. Since our theme was Rose Gold, we found metallic paper for that precious-metal shine.

This bow garland looks great on its own but you can also simply add the bows to a store bought garland, as in the photo above. For that, we started with this garland, which comes with a bunch of letters so you can spell out Happy Birthday, Sweet 16, Congratulations, Bon Voyage, or whatever you like. Whatever you choose, a bow garland will tie your party together. (And might even inspire you to throw a bow-themed party with bows everywhere from decor to dessert.)

There’s so many fun garland variations you can make.

You can fashion the bows out of paper and simply tie them together with matching ribbon..

Make two (or more!) garlands and double them up.

Hang a few other garlands first, and finish with the bows! Here, we hung white fringe, a gold confetti garland, and the letter garland alongside our bows.

Here’s how to make the bow garland.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

How To –

Step One: Download, Print, and Cut.

You have two options here. You can print the template onto paper or card stock, cut it out, and use that as a template to trace onto the paper you’re using to make bows (in our case, the rose gold metallic), then cut those pieces out. Or, you can print the template several times onto the rose gold paper (or whatever paper you are using) and cut out.

Step Two: Make the Tail

Take the “tail” piece of the bow, fold it along the marked line, and staple. You can even get pink staples to match the paper.

Step 3: Make the Bow.
Take the bow part of the template and fold the ends to the middle. Staple to create the shape of the bow.

Now you have the top and bottom of the bow.

Step Five: Finish the Bow.

Take the small strip that is the only remaining part of the template, wrap it around the center of the bow and tape it together in the back. This will hide the staple.

Step Six: Attach the Bow and “Ribbon” Tails

Use double sided tape to attach the bow to what would be the tails of the ribbon in a ribbon bow.

Step seven: Finish the bow

Adjust how everything lays and your bow is done!. To make the garland, simply take string and pass it through the gap made by the center strip of paper as it wraps around the bows.
