Every nook doubles as both storage and decor on our workspace wall, where fun touches mix in with organized essentials.
–Items like cloches and cake stands are stored out of the way but still within reach. They rest up high in front of a series of our prints and photos in Framebridge frames. The backdrop remains visible since the objects we’re storing are mostly clear.
–Drawings of scissors are mixed in with the real thing hanging above the scanner. (As crafters, we cut paper, plastic, fabric and anything else you can think of!)
–A Darcy Miller x Chasing Paper Frame Decal sits above each desk with a portrait of each person in it. It’s our version of the usual nameplate! Plus, we’ve put up some Darcy Miller x Chasing Paper Inspirational Notes to encourage and inspire.
This is the most organized way we’ve found to keep all of our Paper Source colored paper neat and accessible. We couldn’t find an existing organizer to fill the open shelf exactly, so we stacked individual clear drawers to fit the space. There’s always a way! Now we can see everything clearly, switch up the color order, and pull out the drawer when we need a certain shade. And we can do it all without ruffling the sheets of paper.

We’re always cutting something, so we need our selection of scissors easily accessible, front and center! Our scissor wall turns tools into decor with a variety of interesting scissors that look too good to hide in a drawer. And of course, we mixed in a few of my illustrated shears to add that Darcy wink.

We can never have enough craft supplies at Darcy Miller Designs! It’s all stored on open shelving in clear containers, which makes it accessible and looks great, too. Big glass apothecary jars above the desk are perfect for washi tape, glitter, ribbons, and all our DIY tools. If an item doesn’t have to be kept airtight, leave it in an open jar and it’s easier to access!
I know it’s a little old school, but I find that binders are an easy way to archive all my original art. We keep the Darcy Miller Designs archive, or what I think of as my Encyclopedia of Artwork, in these gray binders. We labelled each with an illustrated tag. There’s one for everything from Cakes to Flowers, to Animals, to Kids, plus special occasions from Valentine’s Day to Graduation.
Everything is stored electronically now, but I still like to keep all of my sketches here, too, so we can flip back through them. It’s a great reference for when we’re looking for art for a new design. (The holes make it easy to pull one off the shelf when they are really packed in.) I use the same system to save my daughters’ artwork at home, too. Binders are an easy way to organize art by year and by child.
You can never have enough storage! These gray boxes keep extras like prints, favors, clear photo sleeves, and any other odds and ends out of sight.
Clear glass jar are a great place to store tools. Keep the lids off, and it’s much easier to grab what’s inside. As an added bonus, even oversized objects, like this level, can fit in. I love these easy DIY tools from Fiskars. But watch out! For safety, make sure the sharp edges of any tools are always covered when not in use.
