We’re off to the races with this lucky horseshoe charcuterie board! The perfect Kentucky Derby board, it’s also an ideal party platter for any equestrian – or Western-themed event whether it’s a cowboy birthday party or cowgirl bridal shower. A horseshoe charcuterie board is decorative enough to double as decor but so easy to put together with cheese, meat, and vegetables, all accompanied by some haystacks of crunch snacks such as cheese sticks or coconut chips. To add festive toothpicks, download our free horseshoe template, print, cut out, and attach to toothpicks as a fun topper. Giddyup!

You can make your board with whatever charcuterie ingredients you like. We used:

  • Cheddar cheese
  • Manchego heese
  • A wheel of brie
  • Raspberry jam
  • Pepper salami
  • Soppressata
  • Prosciutto
  • Red and green grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Kalamata olives
  • Castelvetrano olives
  • Cucumber
  • Celery
  • Purple carrots
  • Corn nuts
  • Coconut flakes
  • Baked cheese crunchies

Step 1: Slice cheese into equal-sized rectangles, plus two slightly larger rectangles (these will become the top of the horseshoe). Grab your board, and start laying out rectangles in a U shape. Overlap the rectangles slightly to form a smooth curve, then place the two larger rectangles at the top.

Step 2: Add a few blueberries on top of the horseshoe to look like nails.

Step 3: Using the remaining meats and vegetables, fill in around the horseshoe. To make sure your horseshoe really pops, use white cheese and darker colored accompaniments, tucking the meats and veggies under the cheese

Step 4 (Optional): For the horseshoe-topped brie, print and cut our horseshoe template to fit your wheel of brie (we give you multiple sizes). Place it on top of the wheel of brie, then trace around the template with a sharp paring knife. Remove the template and use a small spoon to lift off the rind, creating a horseshoe shaped well. Save a few pieces of the rind and cut into small squares. Carefully fill the space left by the missing rind with jam, wiping off anything that spills over. Place the reserved rind squares on top of the jam to resemble nails.

Step 5: Add crunch. FIll small bowls with salty snacks, so the crunchy treats don’t get soggy next to vegetables.

Step 6(Optional): Print the horseshoe template, cut out, and tape to toothpicks. Stick in your horseshoes and let the party begin!
