These pipe cleaner daisies are simple to make and can be used in so many ways, whether you’re celebrating Mother’s Day, throwing a springtime bridal or baby shower, or having a summer party. They’re also a fun DIY project for kids that can be used again and again—feel free to play with colors and shapes to create your own flowers, and if you don’t have a pom pom, a circle of yellow paper works, too. The finished flowers are so versatile, you can use them in multiple ways, from adding a bit of bloom to favor bags to dressing up your table.
–Wrap the a daisy around a candy-filled treat bag for a sweet take home treat, a (for a how-to, see below):
– Slip a single bloom in a bud vase
– Use a few to line a table—you can even combine them with real daisies
– Use as a place card with the name written on the leaf, or attached to a flat card
– Make a posy for guests to take home as a favor
– Craft a whole bouquet of them for mom
– Hot glue one to a barrette
– At a wedding, they can be clustered as a posy for the flower girl, or used as boutonnieres
What You Need:
- 2 Pipe cleaners per flower
- Mini Pom Pom
- Glue dot or hot glue and glue gun
- Leaf Template
- Green Paper
- Scissors
- Clear treat bag (optional)
- Candy (optional white champagne bubbles used here)
- Paper Straw (optional)
Step One Twist the ends of your two pipe cleaners together to form one long piece
Step Two Bend the top end of your long pipe cleaner to make a petal, about one inch in size, and twist it around the center “stem” to finish.
Step Three Using the remaining length of pipe cleaner, bend up from where the original “petal” meets the “stem,” forming a second petal. Twist the base of the petal one time to finish it and secure it in place. Repeat until you have five petals.
Step Four Attach mini yellow pom pom to center with glue dot or hot glue
Step Five Download Leaf Template, print on green paper, and cut out, poking a hole where marked.
Step Six Slide one leaf onto the remaining length of pipe cleaner, then twist the pipe cleaner around a candy-filled bag to make a favor, OR leave the remaining length straight as the daisy’s “stem,” slide it into a paper straw so it stands up.
