These snow-globe-inspired terrariums of winter wonderland scenes filled the shelves of our Studio when my friend, event planner Bryan Rafanelli, took over our mantel. They’re so easy to put together that they’re an ideal activity for kids kept home on a snow day. This one has my drawing of a friendly snowman and some evergreens, but you could fill yours with any miniatures.
Consider:
- Toy figurines (turn Anna, Elsa and Olaf into a Frozen scene!)
- Toy animals in a “snowy meadow”
- Ornaments
- Photos or drawings
- Mini houses to make a snowy neighborhood
- Gingerbread people
Animal crackers or other cookies (and fill the base with sugar!)
To make our version, here’s what you’ll need:
- A glass vase, bowl, or other vessel
- Fake Snow (Cotton batting works well, too!)
- Mini faux evergreens
- Friendly Snowman template
- Cardstock or thick paper
- Scissors
- Doubleside tape
How To:
Step 1 Download Friendly Snowman Template and print out.
Step 2 Cut out snowman shapes, and tape two of them back-to-back with doublesided tape.
Step 3 Fill glass vessel almost halfway with fake snow or cotton batting.
Step 4 Place trees, snowman, and anything else you like in the snow to create a winter wonderland.
