One Big Idea: Snoopy Party

Some of the best parties don’t come from a big, complicated concept…they come from one favorite thing. It could be a color (like rose gold), a signature look (like our red lip party), an activity (like our soul cycle spin class party). Or, this time, a character everyone loves. Choose one thing the birthday person is obsessed with and build everything around it. So easy and and you’ve got a party that feels personal and pulled-together without a ton of extra effort.

Sometimes that “one thing” isn’t a color or activity at all – it’s a character. We did exactly that for my daughter’s Sonny Angel birthday, and most recently, for one of our own team members, Vanessa, who has loves Snoopy. The truth is, everyone needs a Snoopy party at least once. It’s a timeless, universally loved, and instantly makes a celebration feel joyful and nostalgic, whether you’re 5 or 50.

Start With the Palette

Once we picked Snoopy as our one big idea, the color story practically designed itself: black, white, and a hint of red. We kept the base of the party black-and-white (tablecloths, plates, balloons) and let red sneak in as an accent (just like Snoopy’s doghouse). Sticking to a tight palette is what makes a character party feel elevated instead of costume-y.

Lean Into the Character, Everywhere

Once the palette was set, we pulled Snoopy into every detail we could:

  • Snoopy cutouts on tooth picks in the food and as confetti
  • A Snoopy cake topper on top the cake
  • Black-and-white (and chocolate) food – both round and spotted, that reinforced the palette
  • Our favorite Snoopy finds and gifts tucked in as favors and surprises throughout
  • Using Snoopy’s favorite foods from The Peanuts specials

A character party is even more fun when the food gets in on the theme. We took cues straight from the Peanuts universe:

Jelly beans, toast, pretzels, and popcorn – straight out of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
A full black-and-white candy and chocolate spread, keeping with our palette (and reminiscent of Snoopy’s nose)

Don’t Forget the Nostalgia Factor

The detail that got the biggest reaction? The Snoopy doghouse snow cone machine – the exact one so many of us wanted as kids. Pairing a nostalgic, slightly unexpected activity station (we also had snoopy-shaped waffles!) with the classic character details is what pushes a party from “cute” to memorable.

Whatever character or favorite thing your guest of honor loves, the formula is the same: pick one big idea, build your palette around it, and layer in the details—decor, food, and one nostalgic surprise—that make it feel like a party made just for them.
